Position on Board: President

Background & history with Eagles: 2016 is my 5th year on the Board of the Cambodian Eagles. Although I have never played a game for the Eagles and haven’t played a game of footy in over 15 years, the home and away games were the draw for me to get involved in the club, along with the friendships that are developed through being involved.

Previous involvement with AFL and/or other sporting clubs: Previously involved withe the Cora Lynn Cobras East Gippsland where I played a few games and spent a number of years as a trainer.

Outside the Eagles, why are you in Cambodia: I live with my partner Sophea and our 3   kids in Phnom Penh where we run a small hotel and a fire & safety company.

Position on Board: Vice President Operations

Background & history with Eagles: I do bits and pieces, sponsorship development, communications, operational things, linking up the board and playing group, umpiring.Previous involvement with AFL and/or other sporting clubs: Previously involved withe the Cora Lynn Cobras East Gippsland where I played a few games and spent a number of years as a trainer.

Previous involvement with AFL and/or other sporting clubs: I have been involved with AFL since I was nine years old. I played footy in country Victoria (Apollo Bay, Euroa, Ballarat) before a knee dislocation slowed me up. Then I pulled the boots on again when living on Kangaroo Island (South Australia) where I played with the Wisangar Football Club and started to get involved in sports administration (cricket, AFL).

My family then moved to central Queensland and we all got involved in the Yeppoon Swans AFL Club. It was here that I played 100+ games, a bit in A-Grade but mostly with the Reserves where I was captain, vice-captain, and member of premiership winning teams in 2004 and 2006. I coached juniors, umpired and held club administration roles from 2003-05 (committee member, media officer, sausage cooker) and was club president from 2006-08. No bribes were given yet in 2006 I was awarded senior club administrator for the state by AFL Qld. For my sins, I barrack for Richmond, so I am eternally disappointed; but looking forward to next year.Outside the Eagles, why are you in Cambodia.

Outside the Eagles, why are you in Cambodia: I am General Manager for a program called Investing in Infrastructure (3i) that aims to connect more rural households and business to drinking water and electricity.

Position on Board: Secretary & Khmer Development Officer

Background & history with Eagles: Appointed to Eagles board in 2015 and assumed secretary role for 20167 season; heavily involved with Khmer player development and the social aspects of the footy club.

Previous involvement with AFL and/or other sporting clubs: I played football in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne from the time I was old enough to play. I have experienced both highs and lows as a premiership player in a side that didn’t lose a match for the season, and then in the following season only winning three matches after we transferred to another league.

I have held various board and committee position with a number of sporting clubs as well as junior coaching roles and enjoy the team camaraderie that comes with being part of a football club, in particular one based in Phnom Penh.

Outside the Eagles, why are you in Cambodia: First came to Cambodia in 2012 for a holiday and just kept coming back, eventually moved here permanently in early 2016. My career is in banking and finance with extensive experience in credit, operations and third party distribution with a focus on mortgage aggregation, mortgage management and brokering. Whilst currently not working I am kept busy with my role with the Cambodian Eagles but I am looking at employment and business opportunities in Cambodia.

Position on Board: Football Department Representative

Background & history with Eagles: Founding member and resident historian – I was present at the very start in 2010 when the Eagles were born from an idea. Served as Vice President for two years and played solidly for the first couple of years. As age and injuries have taken their toll, I can now play only intermittently when the body is right.

Previous involvement with AFL and/or other sporting clubs: Played junior soccer, AFL and tennis, then began to play basketball that resulted in playing for the Dandenong Rangers in the CBL. I discontinued this to pursue tertiary studies (and I blew my knee out). I have always been a solid Collingwood supporter even though it is difficult being derided so much!

Outside the Eagles, why are you in Cambodia: Initially came to Cambodia to pursue employment opportunities. Worked for NGOs until I switched over to the dark side – being private enterprise. Now have settled with a young family and living a happy and enjoyable lifestyle.
